The big moment is coming – how do you choose the ring?
Choosing an engagement ring is one of the most exciting and meaningful decisions in life. It is a piece your partner will wear for many years to come, so it deserves time and thought.
Get to know the 4Cs
When it comes to diamonds, there are four key criteria: Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat weight. Each one affects the look and value of the stone.
Cut – the most important factor. A precise, high-quality cut is what makes a diamond sparkle and shine. An excellent cut reflects light perfectly and gives the diamond its distinctive brilliance.
Color – diamonds are graded on a color scale from D (completely colorless) to Z. The more colorless a diamond is, the rarer and more valuable it becomes.
Clarity – refers to internal and external imperfections in the diamond. Most are invisible to the naked eye, but they do affect value.
Carat – the unit of weight for diamonds. One carat equals 0.2 grams. Remember that size isn’t everything – the quality of the cut matters just as much.
Choosing the right style
Pay attention to the jewelry style your partner loves. Does she prefer a classic, timeless design or something modern and unique? Is she drawn to yellow, white or rose gold?
A solitaire ring (a single stone) is the most classic and popular choice. Halo rings (a center stone surrounded by smaller stones) offer a luxurious, striking look. Vintage rings combine nostalgia with elegance.
Setting a budget
There is no fixed rule for how much to spend on an engagement ring. What matters is choosing a ring that expresses your love, within a budget you are comfortable with. At M. JEWELRY, we would be happy to help you find the perfect ring at any price point.
